The commune is composed of the town of Bobolice with municipal rights since 1340.

In the years 1872-1932 Bobolice was a county seat.

The administrative authorities of the Commune:

Legislative power is performed the Town Council of Bobolice.

The Town Council consists of 15 councilors elected by popular vote (7 councilors are elected from the Town, the remaining 8 are elected by people living in rural areas);

The Council appoints five standing committees: Audit Committee, Committee for Education, Culture and Sport, Committee for Health and Welfare, Unemployment and Public Order, Committee for Agriculture, Forestry and the Environmental Protection, Commission for Communal Economy, Finance and Development.

The executive power is exercised by the Mayor of Bobolice.

Since December 2010, the function of the Mayor of Bobolice has been performed by Mrs. Mieczysława Brzoza M.A., who, in the years 2002 to 2010, was the Deputy Mayor of Bobolice.

  

Area and administrative division

Within the administrative boundaries of Bobolice there is the area of 367.7 km2. In terms of area size, the commune of Bobolice is one of the largest communes of the Zachodniopomorskie Province (7th place out of 114 communes). The area of 367.7 km2 constitutes 22% of the total area of the county of Koszalin.

 

Geographical location and natural environment

Bobolice commune is located in the eastern part of the Zachodniopomorskie Province, in the south-eastern part of the county of Koszalin.

The commune is situated between Koszalin and Szczecinek, bordered by the following communes:

- from the south - by communes: Grzmiąca, Szczecinek and Bialy Bór (the County of Szczecinek)

- from the West - by the commune of Tychowo (the County of Białogard)

- from the north-east – by the commune of Polanów (rural county of Koszalin)

·- from the north – by communes: Manowo and Świeszyno (rural county of Koszalin).

 

There are 3 reserves in the commune: forest "Buczyna" and water-floral " Szare Lake" and " Piekiełko lake". The river Chociel flows  through the town and the northern part of the commune, with a length of 23 km, which then flows into Radew, a tributary of Parsęta.

 

Land use:

Agricultural land - 14.237 ha (38.73%),

forest area - 18,491 ha (50.31%),

other land and wasteland - 4.028 ha (10.96%).

 

Communication:

 

The commune of Bobolice is crossed by the national road No. 11 between Kolobrzeg - Koszalin - Bobolice - Szczecinek - Poznań - Bytom connecting the town of Bobolice and Koszalin (through Mostowo and Manowo) and Szczecinek (through Wierzchowo) and the national road No. 25 Bobolice - Biały Bór - Człuchów with branches to Bydgoszcz and Warsaw.

The aforesaid national roads and provincial roads no. 171 Bobolice - Barwice - Czaplinek and road No. 205 Bobolice - Drzewiany - Slawno – Darłowo converge here. Their characteristic feature is a radial system of roads in the town center. In the town there are also two modern roundabouts discharging increased traffic, mainly in the summer.

The Bobolice Economic Activity Zone (SAG) 

The Mayor of Bobolice, with a view to the continued need for economic activation of the Commune of Bobolice, has taken the initiative to set up the Economic Activity Zone (SAG) in the town. Resolution No. XIV / 132/2016 of the Bobolice City Council of 23 March 2016 on the creation of Bobolice Economic Activity Zone in the town of Bobolice gives the commune a green light for further actions in this field. In this way the commune wants to increase the investment attractiveness of the commune and 

the region and to create conditions for the development of companies from the sector of small and medium seized companies and the creation of new jobs. 

The SAG area in Bobolice consists of 25, 3256 hectares of industrial part of the town, both owned by the commune and natural and legal persons. According to the local spatial plan adopted in 2016 covering the first 3.5 ha of SAG land, the communal land is designated for production sites, warehouses or areas of service development, including craft services, while the other lands, in the study of conditions and directions of the spatial development of the town of Bobolice, are areas intended for 

industry, bases, warehouses, crafts and production services. 

A significant part of the area is covered by the patronage of the Słupsk Special Economic Zone. Currently, there are activities underway aimed at covering them with the status of Slupsk Special Economic Zone and establishing the Bobolice Subzone.
